I recently travelled to Manila with Qatar Airways, my first on this multi-awarded airline. As with any 'firsts', expectations abound and fortunately for this one, surpassed mine, plus a lot more. At Terminal 4, check in was swift and its new location afforded more convenience and ease for most of us who uses public transport, as it is near the lift. Onboard the spacious Airbus, and comfortably settled, I checked the Oryx flight entertainment. To my delight, the on-demand entertainment offers a wide array of choices from music, games and movies, with Tagalog selections. Dining was a real pleasure, serving some genuine Filipino treats such as the much yearned for pandesal and ube cream cake for dessert.

Landing at Doha, airconditioned coaches await travellers for the short ride to the terminal buildings. Once inside the terminal, the outside buzz caused by the reconstruction of the airport, fades seamlessly. It will soon give way to a world-class airport. Whilst temptation for duty free shopping beckons, equally inviting are the lounges---Gold and Silver premium lounges for those privilege club members or the Oryx lounge. For around £25.00, the latter is open to those just wanting to while away time in a relaxed and peaceful environment and enjoy a light sumptuous snack before continuing onward flight to Manila or other destination. The best place though is the 'QUIET ROOM' found on the same level (2nd floor), where reclining seats are perfect to stretch those tired muscles and if time permits, doze off. Nearby is a play zone to keep the children busy and entertained. With just so much to explore, time passes by unnoticed.

Flying with Qatar Airways, be it in economy or business class, is simply unrivalled luxury and indulgence. The wonderful travel services provided by Qatar and its staff---ground and above--- makes a long haul flight 'NOT SO LONG' afterall. It is truly deserving of its 5star status.
